Time spent tending our crops is never wasted. Serv Time spent tending our crops is never wasted. Serving the plants and growing the littlest sprouts to maturity is so fulfilling to me. There's no question--it is my bliss!⁣
⁣
These little beauties are the carrots we're overwintering this year. Yesterday, I thinned them, as well as our beets, and I was in heaven enjoying the sunshine and blue skies--a blessed break from the cold and rain!⁣
⁣
I hope you get the chance to be in your happy place today, dear friends. Never underestimate the power of spending even a little time refueling your soul! ❤⁣

We were blessed with the most incredible sunrise e We were blessed with the most incredible sunrise earlier this week! 😍 So of course, we grabbed our jackets, pulled on boots, and ran out to take it in because it was so unbelievably magical. And then, in only a matter of minutes, it was gone. ⁣
⁣
Yet, the memory of it has stuck with me all week. And it also got me thinking about how something brief and fleeting can also be incredibly powerful and full of meaning. ⁣
⁣
Whether it's the scent of a fragrant flower floating on a warm breeze, the sound of a child giggling, a hug from a loved one...there are so many little life moments that hang with us and fill us with joy. It really is all about the small things, isn't it?⁣
⁣
Honestly, I feel that same way whenever one of you takes a moment just to say hi. That small act of kindness is not overlooked by me. I know that you could just glance and scroll by, but that brief extra effort to reach out and actually say something? It's golden. I mean, talking (or, rather, typing) into a void isn't much fun! I much prefer talking WITH y'all than "at" you!⁣
⁣
So, if you're one of the people who read this whole thing instead of scrolling by, I just want to say thanks for giving me the chance to be a nerd and ponder these little life moments. You're my kind of people, and I'm glad you're here! ❤
Happy New Year, farm family! 🎉 Are you the type Happy New Year, farm family! 🎉 Are you the type of person to approach the new year as a blank slate? Do you set resolutions? Do you choose a special word for the year?⁣
⁣
I'm not a "resolutions" person, but I do like the idea of closing one chapter and beginning a new one. Of course, we don't need to flip the calendar page to do that, but there is something sort of celebratory in welcoming a new year with new possibilities and ambitions, isn't there?⁣
⁣
Lately, we've been doing lots of work to clean out the things in life that are no longer serving us, reducing the amount of "stuff" that we have, and really being intentional about grounding ourselves in what matters most. I find this to be one of the more difficult practices in life, but also incredibly freeing. It really forces you to slow down and be mindful rather than getting caught up in the go, go, go. That idea of slowing down doesn't come naturally to me. I'm always finding something I want to do, build, or explore. But I think it's a fine line between making the most of your life and getting caught up in it and missing the truly important parts.⁣
⁣
The key, at least for me anyway, is progress over perfection. That's what I'll be trying to focus on over these coming days and weeks of winter, before the seasons change again and the days become longer and busier.⁣
⁣
I hope 2023 is treating you well so far, friends! I'm looking forward to the year ahead! ❤
Even though winter officially started with the sol Even though winter officially started with the solstice yesterday afternoon, we've been enjoying a snowy wonderland for several weeks--and I love it! There's just something magical about how the whole world looks so beautiful blanketed in snow. ❄⁣
⁣
These cross-stitch snowflakes are one of my favorite ways to celebrate winter with some heirloom style crafting. Plus, I find needlework to be so relaxing...it's almost meditative to watch the design appear with each little stitch. And it's SO easy to do!⁣

Happy winter, and happy celebrating that every day is getting a little bit longer now! I hope you're keeping warm and cozy, dear friends! ❤
Happy Thanksgiving, farm family! As we reflect o Happy Thanksgiving, farm family!

As we reflect on all there is to be grateful for, I've been thinking a lot lately about the idea of abundance. Culturally, it seems like our society has become focused on abundance as material excess. Having more of something than you need might certainly fit the definition, but...instead of money and things...what about an abundance of the heart? Isn't that what's most important?

A piece of scripture reminds us that a good person brings good things out of the good stored up in their heart.

Just as the farmer stores or preserves their excess crop for later use, there are times when we need an abundance of the heart to nourish ourselves and our communities.

We live in difficult times...it's easy to become hardened and jaded by too much bad news, suffering, and struggle. It's easy to close the door on others who think differently from us. It's easy to lose faith. And, this is precisely when we need to dip into our abundant goodness to replenish hope, happiness, and love.

Yet, we cannot reap what is not sowed. And that got me thinking...what seeds are we planting? What crops are we nurturing?

Are you sowing seeds of love, kindness, and understanding?

Are you tending crops of compassion, honesty, and respect?

Are you harvesting an abundance of the heart and nourishing your soul in the process?

It's only when we consciously grow goodness that we can have an abundance of the heart to do good in the world. It takes effort and devotion to be that version of ourselves that makes the future better than the past.

We have so much for which to be grateful for over the past year, but on this Thanksgiving, I'm especially focused on the future and cultivating an abundance of the heart for the days ahead.

Thank you, dear friends, for being part of our journey, our community, and our hearts. We are blessed by your love and kindness, and we wish you a joyful day of gratitude! 🧡

Most years, one of the things I most look forward Most years, one of the things I most look forward to at autumn is that cozy indoor nesting time. I love using the rainy days for working on craft projects, refreshing our decor, or experimenting with new recipes. But this year things have been a bit different.⁣
⁣
We haven't really had our typical rainy days yet. There was a big storm...and then we went right back to blue skies. If you know anything about the PNW, you know that is super NOT normal! I've even had to run irrigation on our veggie beds this week! Talk about weird!⁣
⁣
The good thing about the dry weather is that it's making it better for getting my outdoor chores done. I'm ridiculously far behind on garden tasks this year, so I'm grateful for the extra time to tackle my to-do list.⁣
⁣
I think the lesson I'm taking away from this autumn is that there's always, always a reason to be grateful. If you have the right attitude, every day feels like a gift. ❤⁣
⁣
P.S. You can find the printable pattern and tutorial to make this DIY autumn bunting banner over on the blog! Happy fall, friends! 😘
Raking leaves is certainly not my favorite chore, Raking leaves is certainly not my favorite chore, but the colors of autumn are so stunning. I'll happily rake to enjoy the views! 😍🍁🍂🧡

I hope your day is filled with beauty, friends! ❤
