Every fall, I swear I'm going to cut down our crab

Every fall, I swear I'm going to cut down our crabapple trees because of the tremendous amount of clean-up work they create...but every spring, I am so incredibly grateful we have them! 🌸 And they sure do make our pollinator friends happy!⁣
⁣
They are definitely in their full and majestically beautiful time of year right now, and I just can't stop marveling at them all day, every day. What miracles this life has to offer, if we only stop to appreciate them!⁣

I finished harvesting all of our broccoli and caul

I finished harvesting all of our broccoli and cauliflower, so now we're ready to turn our beds over and start planting for summer. Although, truth be told, it's tough to tell whether I was "harvesting" or just eating my way through the beds! 🤣 I mean, who can resist when it tastes soooo good?! 😋⁣

I can hardly wait to start planting, which will probably start within the week. There's no question that I'm ready for summer, sunshine, flowers, and...of course...more eating straight out of the garden! Ha!⁣

Since it was rainy yesterday, I worked on some spring cleaning chores around the house. I don't know about y'all, but tidying and cleaning makes me feel so much more relaxed. ⁣
⁣
There's something about things being orderly and in their place that soothes my brain and makes my stress just sort of melt away. It's always been this way. Even when I was a kid, I would set to work straightening up my room or organizing my desk, and it just really felt good to my soul when things were neat and in order. I don't really know what to say about that...I was a weird kid! Spending an afternoon setting up my binder and organizing my homework was enjoyable...and I grew up to be someone who's nuts about post-it notes and sharpies. Go figure!⁣

Now, don't take that to mean that our house is immaculate all the time...by no means is that the case! But then, if I didn't have a reason to tidy, I wouldn't get that rush of happy in my day either, right? Ha! The things we tell ourselves!⁣

Well, hello there, friends! How's your spring going?⁣

I've been a tad quiet lately because we've been going through a wee bit of a difficult season of life for a few months. There has been some real emotional turmoil going on as we fumble through all the stuff that comes with caring for aging parents. And then, to top it off...despite being vaccinated, boosted, and boosted a second time...Rob caught the dreaded bug *again*.⁣
⁣
That paragraph again: Poop storm wrapped in a tornado of angry bees descends upon unsuspecting family.⁣
⁣
We certainly all have our crosses to bear during life's journey, but lately it has felt like ours is made of lead and covered in fire ants. ⁣
⁣
All that to say, we've been spending our time...well, quite honestly, surviving.⁣
⁣
But sometimes, there's a bright side of being in a dark place. It's a weird sort of paradox, but the most trying times of life can also be the most revealing and transformative. The difficult challenges we face also bring us new awarenesses and allow us to re-focus and sort out what matters the most.⁣
⁣
Despite every little thing that has landed on our doorstep over the past several months, I can still see that there's a gift hidden in that messy pile of confusion, chaos, sleeplessness, and heartache.⁣
⁣
Weeds or flowers...it all depends on your perspective. And I am choosing to see the good. ⁣
⁣
We're being blessed by an evolution of our souls and a revolution of our dreams and goals. This time is a reminder to us that there is a way through every challenge so long as there is courage, commitment, and faith.⁣
⁣
What lies ahead is going to be a grand adventure, and one that we look forward to and are grateful to be embarking upon with all of you, dear friends. Much more to come...❤

Time spent tending our crops is never wasted. Serving the plants and growing the littlest sprouts to maturity is so fulfilling to me. There's no question--it is my bliss!⁣

These little beauties are the carrots we're overwintering this year. Yesterday, I thinned them, as well as our beets, and I was in heaven enjoying the sunshine and blue skies--a blessed break from the cold and rain!⁣
